Prickly Pear Cacti Care
Detailed Growing Instructions:
CAUTION! Handle with care. Using a pair of thick gloves or tongs gently unwrap cactus pads.
1. Prepare Planting Site & Soil - If potting your cactus, create or purchase your cactus soil blend. To create your own, Mix 2 parts sterile potting soil, 1 part perlite, and 1 part coarse sand in a container. If planting in the ground find a sandy rocky well draining sunny area.
2. Prepare Container - Fill your pot (if using) with soil.

3. Plant - Locate the scab end of the cactus pad where its cut. Dig a hole equal to the base of the cutting and place 1/3 of the pad into the soil. Pat the soil around the base to secure the pad.

4. Water - Water soil deeply, but infrequently. Let soil dry out completely before watering again. It's better to underwater than overwater.

Pots - Reduce water significantly. Only water if soil is bone dry.
In Ground - Let nature do its thing. There shouldn't be a need to water, but you might need to depending on where you're located. Check local recommendations. Growing conditions like temp, precipitation, and humidity can vary greatly.
