Baptisia tinctoria - Small Yellow Wild Indigo

Small Yellow Wild Indigo has petite yellow flowers and stands out for only producing a single seed per pod unlike other Baptisias. It also blossoms later in the season. Caution should be exercised as parts of the plant are considered toxic (contains baptisin and cytisine). This is one reason why the plant serves as a host for the Wild Indigo Duskywing butterfly and why it's deer resistant.
