Compass Plant is a striking member of the sunflower family, boasting towering flower stalks adorned with vibrant yellow blooms reminiscent of sunflowers. Its seeds attract lots of birds and the large stalks provide a perch. It has large, rough leaves. Broken stems release a gummy substance that Native Americans once used as a natural chewing gum for mouth cleansing.
